Background:

The European norms are based on calculating the percentiles at each age, that would correspond to BMI 25 and BMI 30 at age 18. A reference material from several countries is used - also from non-European countries.

Important: The BMI guidelines based on this source are not used to define "underweight" as BMI is a very poor predictor for this in children. Therefore, the term "Normal weight" should be interpreted as "Not overweight".
